DESCRIPTION:On a dark and snowy night in Chicago\, a group of strangers\, who all received a mysterious invitation to a holiday party at an old speakeasy on the Northside\, arrive expecting to have their questions answered. Instead\, they find themselves in the middle of a crime scene with a dead celebrity in this mash-up holiday version of all things Who Done It.  Strangeloop Theatre presents an original devised piece\, "Christmas Clue-seau\," written by Letitia Guillaud and the cast. Directed by Holly Robison\, the play stars Maria Burnham\, Allison McCorkle\, Juliana Brecher\, Justin Martin Fill\, Enan Heneghan\, Caitlin Jackson\, Carol Ludwick\, Richard John McLain\, Zachary Rebich\, Peter Robards and James Sparling.  "Christmas Clue-seau" runs two nights only: Monday\, December 15\, and Tuesday\, December 16 at 8 p.m. at the Underground Wonder Bar\, 710 North Clark Street\, Chicago\, 60654. You never know when you're going to get that blue shell...  Introducing: RIDDLE ME THAT!  A game show team trivia challenge for everyone!  Trivia! Points! Physical Challenges! Music! Comedy! Drama! Big Prizes! Pie! Revenge! Intrigue!  Admission: "Duck and Cover" $5 per player (Towards the evening's 1st Place Prize) + $0-5 Dollars based on a game of chance. Teams of 2-4.  This week\, we're happy to present STAR WARS trivia!  Come on down and show everyone how much you know about Jedis\, lightsabers\, wookies\, mandalorians\, and the force!  1st Place: Cold hard cash. 2nd prize: A homemade original pie (based on the nights theme) 3rd prize: THE MYSTERY BOX  RIDDLE ME THAT!

SUMMARY:It's A Wonderful Trivia Night!
DESCRIPTION:What was the elf’s name in Elf? Who played Santa in the Santa Clause movies? Miracle on what street? If you can answer any of those\, congrats you have seen holiday films! Join host\, Brett Mannes\, as he takes you on a trip through all of your favorite (and maybe not so favorite) holiday films. We can’t promise all the questions will be as easy as the ones earlier\, but we can assure you that you don’t need to be an expert at holiday films to have fun.  So gather up a group and head out to The pH Comedy Theater on Wednesday\, December 10 at 8PM. It’s only $5 and the money goes toward helping our little non-profit theater make comedic theater throughout the year. Think of it as giving your favorite comedy theater a little holiday gift. The event is BYOB\, and there will be a pizza special with Ranalli’s across the street. Also enjoy holiday treats and festive holiday music (really just Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” on repeat). Prizes will be awarded to the top teams!  So bone up on Love Actually\, Ernest Saves Christmas and anything produced by Rankin Bass and take a break from your holiday craziness with us Wednesday\, December 10 at 8PM. In this richly textured cityscape with its layers of conquered and conquering people\, long-outlawed gods\, and squalor and magic alike\, a master spy arrives to investigate a murder. While considered epic fantasy\, this isn't your usual European high kingdom\, instead inspired by czarist Russia and Mughal India\, as conquered and conquerors\, respectively.  "A rich\, layered\, thoughtful story\, full of gods and magic and characters that feel unflinchingly true… every once in a while I read a book that’s so well done\, I find myself wanting to punch the author in the face out of pure envy. Congratulations\, Mr. Bennett—you just made the face-punching list!" --Jim C. Hines  What we discussed at the November’s Book Club meeting: The Girl with all the Gifts by M.R. Carey. Every morning\, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her\, Sergeant Parks keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite. But they don't laugh.  We found it to be a gripping story that pulls you along\, making you question life\, evolution\, death\, and what's best for humankind.
