CNSC Anti-Harassment and Event Policy
This anti-harassment policy applies to all events organized by the Chicago Nerd Social Club. Some events may have additions to the policy.
CNSC is dedicated to providing a fun, inclusive, and welcoming space at our events. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants or unwelcome behavior in any form. Event participants violating these rules may be expelled from the event, removed from CNSC membership, or otherwise sanctioned, without refund, at the discretion of the organizers or staff.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or other protected class status, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Unwelcome behavior includes actions that disrupt an event, disturb fellow attendees, or disrespect the venue or staff. Participants who choose to drink alcohol at a CNSC event are responsible for staying within their limits and continuing to adhere by this policy.
Participants asked to stop any harassing or unwelcome behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing or unwelcome behavior, the organizers or staff may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expelling them from the event with no refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of CNSC event staff immediately.
CNSC event staff will be happy to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist so that those experiencing harassment can feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and any related social events..
This policy is based on the anti-harassment policy developed by the Ada Initiative and other volunteers for use by geek conferences.
