Heroes Comic Book and Fantasy Art Expo

September 26, 2015 - September 27, 2015

Background Information Location: Opposed to the standard banquet hall locations of other conventions, we are partnering with the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Three floors of pre-existing displays provide a unique, enticing, and visually stimulating backdrop for vendors and patrons alike. Attractions: Intermingled among the Museum’s displays are comic book artists, comic book displays with supplemental information, interactive art stations for children and families, and games for children. Intent: Our goal is three-fold. First, to offer an old-school venue where comic books and comic book artists occupy the spotlight of the event; a concept which has arguably been lost on today’s mega-style conventions. Second, to attract and educate children on the history of comics. Third, to offer an affordable attraction for families.

Activities Prize Drawings. Games: Stakes are high the players of the HeroClix tournaments on both Saturday and Sunday. Bring the best you got and walk away with a one of a kind award that will show your fellow player where you stand in the world of HeroClix. Hosted by Graham Crackers Comics. 21 of the worst comic books super villains are hiding in the Joliet Area Historical Museum’s display. Receive one free prize drawing ticket for your correct game card. Find them all and bring out the HERO in yourself!!!!! Visit our interactive Artist of Tomorrow Drawing Booth where children are invited to paint and draw under the guidance of selected guest artists, and gain a firsthand perspective as to how the artist works and creates. You never know if one of the artists at the expo will stop by and give you a few pointers! Hosted by Blick Art Materials. Presentations on the history of comic books (presented by Graham Crackers Comics) and the creation of comic books (presented by The Chicago International School of Comics). Guest artists include: Dave Dorman, Steve Palenica, Mike Babinski, Philo Barnhart, Jeff Abar.
