Mystery Science Theater 3000 and RiffTrax turned watching terrible movies into comedy gold. Now Cinema Sacrifice Theater is carrying on that tradition for a new generation with a series of fun film screenings at The Public House Theater in Chicago. And just like MST3K, the show’s conceit is as loopy as the films themselves: To keep an evil RedBox (named “DreadBox,” of course) who’s hellbent on world domination at bay, a group of funny friends must watch — and then ceremoniously sacrifice — a different terrible movie each month. Expect so-bad-they’re-good clunkers like Warriors of the Wasteland, The Werewolf of Washington and the John Travolta movie-of-the-week The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.
