For February’s Book Club we will discussing A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan. A bookish young woman’s passion for learning leads to revolutionary new understandings about dragons and defies the stifling conventions of her world.
Brennan s elegant voice captures the flavor of Victorian-era scientific adventure. The self-deprecating first-person memoir-style narration keeps the plot lively and entertaining. -World Magazine
At January’s Book Club we discussed The Peripheral by William Gibson. While it’s difficult to get into, as his future world is full of acronyms and slang not yet invented, it is a surprisingly smart satire of our society and class structures. More detailed notes available at Positron Chicago.
