Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Club #57

For June’s Book Club meeting we will be discussing The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N. K. Jemisin. Yeine Darr is an outcast from the barbarian north. But when her mother dies under mysterious circumstances, she is summoned to the majestic city of Sky. There, to her shock, Yeine is named an heiress to the king. But the throne of the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is not easily won, and Yeine is thrust into a vicious power struggle.

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms has been nominated for the Hugo, Nebula, Crawford, Gemmell, Tiptree and World Fantasy awards.

What we discussed at the last Book Club meeting:

For May’s Book Club meeting we discussed The Shambling Guide to New York City by Mur Lafferty. The story is entertaining enough and the secondary characters are enjoyable. A small problem though is at the end of the book when the loose ends get tied up a little to conveniently. Overall The Shambling Guide to New York City is a good quick read, a fun popcorn kinda book.
