Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Club #80

United States of Japan

For May’s Book Club we will be reading The United States of Japan by Peter Tieryas. Decades ago, Japan won the Second World War. Americans worship their infallible Emperor, and nobody believes that Japan’s conduct in the war was anything but exemplary. Nobody, that is, except the George Washingtons – a shadowy group of rebels fighting for freedom.

“Mecha, alternate history, video games? Yes, please!” – SF Signal

At April’s Book Club discussed The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin. The Fifth Season is a fierce and sometimes brutal story about what drives one to destroy things. Exciting and rich and is told with a surety and balance that makes the strangeness and ambition of the story easy to understand without ever talking down to the reader.
